Invitation to a Party
This heart is open
welcoming all:
weary travelers
joyful jesters
manic mobsters
surprise visitors too!
Let’s cry, lets sing, let’s dance!
And when the day is done
I’ll wish you adieu
kiss you as you fly out the door
fall into grateful slumber
and awake to the next round of partygoers.
Worth
I could learn from the forest
how with outstretched limbs
she receives the rain
allowing water pour over her
in a baptism of sorts
without admission to
anyone or anything,
how she never turns away
her own nourishment
from feeling lack of worth.
Fireweed
the sequel to destruction
she thrives in the ravaged
forest borrowing tenacity
she is splendor
like a pink ruby
earth’s proprietary gem
no gold could ever buy
delicate yet hardy
resilient like the stampeders
who once tramped these wild lands
tall strands
poised in fuchsia
rise like a steeple in the sky
a harbinger of healing
she sets the field ablaze,
rouses joy
in the aftermath
brushes my eyelashes
kisses my cheeks
dances in the air snow
softly speaks to the earth
in ethereal whispers,
cascading like pearls from the infinite

Your life is like a blank canvas
your thoughts and emotions the paint, you the artist
why create anything less than a masterpiece?
